Today is Earth Day! In celebration of this event, I have set up a special section on my Cafe Press store for special sale items, including organic t-shirts, organic children's and infants clothing, mugs (to use instead of disposable cups) and tote bags (to use instead of plastic or paper shopping bags) all with "green" themes.
I also have some book, magazine, and website recommendations for you:
It's Easy Being Green: A Handbook for Earth-Friendly Living
This book offers several great tips and ideas for being environmentally-friendly in an easy to read and easy to refer-to format. Each tip is brief and organized by category.
Natural Home Magazine
If you are into green home improvement, you'll love this magazine. It offers tips on making your home more environmentally-friendly, from small, simple projects to big renovations.
Ideal Bite
Sign up for free "easy eco-living tips [that] are delivered in a short, sassy email each weekday."
The Daily Green
An excellent website chock-full of all sorts of information and tips.
TipNut
It's not exclusively a green-themed website, but they do have a lot of relevant tips and ideas, including some great recipes for do-it-yourself, natural and toxic-free household cleaners.
How Can I Recycle This?
Reusing is better than recycling, of course. In spite of the semantics, this site is more about reusing or repurposing your unwanted items. Especially great if you're a crafter!
Freecycle
This is such a great concept. You find your local Freecycle group, join, and give away items you don't need anymore rather than throwing them away where they'll likely just end up in landfills. You never know what other people could use!
Earth911
All about how and where to recycle any type of item.
reusablebags.com
Plastic bags are ruining our environment and harming wildlife. Even paper bags aren't a very good alternative. This website has an excellent variety of reusable shopping bags, so you can just say no to plastic! Also available on this site are eco-friendly water bottles.
And finally, if you use LiveJournal, I've created a community on there for green crafts and do-it-yourself projects: diy_green
Happy Earth Day!
